A regional achievement
GREAT ENDEAVORS are realized only because of vision, will and diligence. It is no small thing to begin something new.
Anyone who has opened a store, run a business, written any work of note or organized an event, knows the immediate need for lists, timetables, action plans, demographic studies and financing.
And so it is with great pride that we acknowledge the work done by local builders, contractors, elected officials and city employees in the creation of a new gem that adds to the resources and assets of Southern California and in particular, our Inland Empire: the Citizens Business Bank Arena.
Officials with the City of Ontario, the owner of the new venue, are rightly proud of the sheer heft of this 11,000-seat, $150-million accomplishment more than 10 years in the making.
From a regional perspective, we are excited about what the Arena means for our Inland community because it is another strong element in the mix that comprises the energy and quality of life here.
When businesses look to locate in a community or a family looks for a new hometown, the list of what is considered is fairly simple. Schools and parks, nearby colleges and universities, housing stock, the availability of skilled jobs and services are all high on the list.
More challenging is the task of appraising the character of a region or community.
What history has been preserved and is cherished? How do people support each other and help those in need? Who are the people of the community and what energy do they exhibit? In short, the question is, “Is this a place where things happen — a place where energy and vitality reside?” Once you get past the hockey games and the concerts, the Arena is more than a venue, it is a symbol of commitment and energy.
It fulfills a link in a chain of life quality: a regional airport; vibrant colleges and universities; diversity and respect among the residents; appreciation for the arts and a willingness of a community to invest in itself.
The people, the assets and the energy are the components of a great community — and these are what we see growing here.
Congratulations to the City of Ontario, and thank you for investing in our future.
